Market Commentary
The Dow lost 631 points or 5.7% in three days this week on fears that Greece’s debt problems could halt the global economic recovery. On Thursday, the Dow dropped almost 1,000 points and then rallied back to only close down 347 points. Apparently, a trading glitch exacerbated the turbulence in the trading. Retail sales are encouraging. Between March and April sales rose a healthy 4.8%, however, the unemployment rate rose from 9.7% to 9.9%. When the market vacillates like it has this week, it is important to maintain a long-term perspective and remain invested according to your risk profile.
